At Willdata.info our aim is to put people first, to make our services available to all and to listen to the wants and needs of our customers.

Willdata was founded in 2003 by Jon Lucas. He saw at first hand the need for the location of Wills to be registered following the death of a relation and witnessing the additional heartache and difficulty that the family went through to locate the Will. Six months later he founded Willdata.info.

Currently in the UK, unlike most other European countries, there is still no legal requirement to register either the location of a Will or even that a Will exists. It is left to the individual to ensure that their most recent Will can be found. Even though it may be stored in a safe place, if nobody knows where it is, it will remain there for eternity. The vaults of Banks, Will Writers, Solicitors and secure Storage Companies contain many Wills that are 'lost'.

So how can we help you?

Complete a simple Search Form online with as many details about the missing Will as you can. There is a small charge of £10 to pay.

We do not store Wills or copies of Wills nor do we hold any information relating to any of the contents of a Will, but we do find Wills.

We will process a comprehensive search of the Wills already registered with us and if your Search is successful we will tell you the last registered location of the Will. You can then retrieve it and have peace of mind in knowing that the wishes of your loved one will be carried out as they intended. Only the Executors of a Will, a legal professional with appropriate authority, or the person whose Will it is can retrieve a Will.

Our online Search Service usually takes a few days to complete but if you are submitting a search by post you should allow 28 days. Tracing a Solicitor or Will Writer may take longer but we will advise you of our progress throughout.

Should the Will not be registered with Willdata, we will add the missing Will to our Missing Wills Lists which can be accessed by every single Bank, Solicitor, Will Writer, Estate Planner and Storage Company in the UK. We will also re-run your Search free of charge as we regularly receive Archive Registrations from our Registrars.

Submitting a search request for a Will also entitles you to register the location of your own Will free of charge. We believe that once you have experienced the distress that can be caused by a 'lost' Will you will not want your loved ones to experience the same.

Our service is successful because we are understanding and thorough, we don't have expensive fee earners to support and we put you, our customers, first.
